Radio Business
Report (RBR) was founded in 1983 by Jim
Carnegie and his wife Cathy, who both have
since passed away. 36 years later, now under
Editor-in-Chief Adam Jacobson, it has stayed
true to its heritage position as an
authoritative, independent trade publication
focusing on the business of radio (and now
television as well). It was the industry’s
bible after the 1996 Telecom Act was passed
by the FCC, analyzing the flurry of station
trading and the resulting consolidation. RBR
always “followed the money,” focusing on the
FCC, media agencies, owners, CEOs, brokers
and attorneys as top main sources of
information.
Many top radio
personalities were interviewed over the
years -- including Rush Limbaugh, Sean
Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Mark Levin, Bill
O’Reilly, Dick Clark, Don Imus, Michael
Savage, Dennis Miller, Alan Colmes, Casey
Kasem, Michael Reagan, Newt Gingrich,
Shepard Smith, Neil Cavuto, Billy Bush,
Erich “Mancow” Muller, Donny Osmond, Tom
Joyner, Joe Scarborough, Laura Ingraham, G.
Gordon Liddy, Rick Dees, Mike Huckabee,
Michael Smerconish, John Gibson, Don & Mike,
Andrew Napolitano, Tony Snow and more.
RBR was sold to
Streamline Publishing Inc. in 2013. Some of
the folks who have passed through its halls
over the years included Editors-in Chief
Katy Bachman, Jack Messmer and Dave Seyler;
along with Managing Director/Senior Editor
Carl Marcucci, GM Ken Lee, and editors JT
Anderton, Tony Sanders, Frank Saxe, Leslie
Stimson, Tiffany Stevens and Karen Maxcy.
Carl Marcucci and April McLynn remain with
RBR/Radio Ink/Streamline Publishing today.
